FIRE FIGHTER/EMT

Performs experienced protective service work controlling, extinguishing, and preventing fires and performing Basic Life Support at emergency scenes. Typically shift work: 24 hours on/48 hours off.

All applicants must not have been users of tobacco products for at least one (1) year immediately preceding their application for employment as a firefighter with Brevard County Fire Rescue, and shall be required, as an absolute condition of continued employment, to refrain from smoking cigarettes, cigars, pipes, or use of any type of tobacco products of any kind (including smoking cessation products), at all times, whether on or off duty.

In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Candidates with verifiable, prior Florida Firefighter experience may be eligible for an advanced initial step placement, (up to Step 5), subject to review and approval by the Fire Chief. Additional incentives may be available, in accordance with the current IAFF Rank & File Bargaining Agreement.

Requirements: Valid BLS/CPR Certification, Valid State of Florida EMT Certification, Florida State Fire Fighter Certificate of Compliance or Letter of Completion from State of Florida Bureau of Fire Standards and Training, Valid Florida Driver's License, Pass written fire and medical exam, Pass Physical Abilities Test (CPAT or BPAT), Pass criminal background investigation and CJIS background check, Pass physical examination per NFPA 1582 guidelines

Salary: $57,582.52 annually
