General Statement of Job
Under close supervision, performs specialized firefighting work in fire suppression, administer emergency medical care, provide fire prevention and basic medical care education, and operate fire rescue apparatus. Employee will participate in firefighting and medical training and other training as needed. Employees may be assigned to operate equipment to alarms, utilize special skills acquired on the job, or assist with fire inspections. Employee is responsible for inspection, cleaning and maintenance of equipment and quarters as well as others tasks as necessary. Reports to a Fire Lieutenant or Fire Captain.

Essential Functions
Responds to emergency or fire alarms; connects hoses to nozzles, hydrants and pumps; joins and places hose sections; enters burning buildings with hose lines; operates nozzles to spray a stream of water on fires; uses hand tools and hand fire extinguishers; raises, lowers and climbs ladders; ventilates burning buildings to carry off smoke and gas. Removes persons from danger; administers first aid to injured persons. Performs salvage operations such as placing salvage covers, sweeping water, removing debris and placing smoke ejectors. Assists in operating pumper, ladder or foam truck; assists in inspecting and maintaining all apparatus and equipment. Attends and participates in training sessions in such subjects as fire fighting techniques, equipment techniques, first aid, street layout and hydrant location. Cleans and performs minor maintenance on department buildings and equipment; maintains fire station grounds.

EMT CERTIFIED MAY PERFORM THE FOLLOWING:
Responds to emergency calls to perform necessary rescue work and administer necessary emergency medical care. Participates in a continuous training program to improve competence in medical technical work.

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS
May assist with the inspection of premises for presence of fire hazards and fire safety violations. May participate in water rescue incidents and instructional sessions. Performs other related work as required.

Hours of Work: Have the ability to work shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years old; valid State of Florida Driver's License; Firefighter Certificate of Compliance Certification (must obtain by December 31, 2026); Paramedic Certification OR EMT Certification and currently enrolled in Paramedic School; Basic Life Support CPR Card; EVOC Certification; no suspended driver's license in past 5 years; no DUI arrest/conviction in past 5 years; no failed background investigation, oral board, polygraph, or psychological exam in past year; no body art on head, neck, or face except single ring tattoo on hand; no steroid usage in past 3 years; no illegal drugs; no marijuana/cannabis use in past 1 year; no tobacco products in past 1 year; not dishonorably discharged; no felony convictions or crimes of moral turpitude

Salary: $67,783.00 - $105,217.00 Annually
