There are eleven (11) immediate openings for SAFER Grant positions. As regular, budgeted positions become vacant, grant positions may be eligible to move to a budgeted position. The SAFER Grant is funded for three years from starting date. Depending on the number of qualified candidates, the Fire Department intends to fill all positions between January and March 2023. The Fire Department will also establish a list of qualified candidates to be considered for any future positions that become vacant due to resignations or retirements.

SPECIAL NOTE:

Requires non-standard, rotating shift-work to include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Primary work schedule is continuous shift work at 48 hours on, 96 hours off.

FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC SALARY RANGE: $18.85 - $27.52/Hourly; DOQ

REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS POSITION:
Arizona Paramedic Certification OR National Registry Paramedic Certification. (Other State, County or Local certifications WILL NOT be accepted).
Firefighter I & II Certification issued by a recognized State or Federal Certifying agency.
FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC TRAINEE SALARY RANGE: $16.96 - $18.80/Hourly; DOQ
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS POSITION:
Arizona State Certification as an Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT) or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification. (Other State, County or Local certifications WILL NOT be accepted). Candidate will be required to attend a Paramedic course and obtain a NREMTP certification at the discretion of the Fire Department.
Firefighter I & II Certification issued by a recognized State or Federal Certifying agency.
PARAMEDIC/FIREFIGHTER TRAINEE SALARY RANGE: $16.96 - $18.80/Hourly; DOQ
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS POSITION:
Arizona Paramedic Certification OR National Registry Paramedic Certification. (Other State, County or Local certifications WILL NOT be accepted). Candidate will be hired as "Trainee" and will be required to attend a Fire Academy and obtain certification in a timeframe established at hire.
FIREFIGHTER/EMT SALARY RANGE: $16.53 - $24.14/Hourly; DOQ
REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS POSITION:
Arizona Paramedic Certification OR National Registry Paramedic Certification. (Other State, County or Local certifications WILL NOT be accepted).
Firefighter I & II Certification issued by a recognized State or Federal Certifying agency.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

If selected; candidate must provide at the time of offer acceptance, a current valid CPAT certification issued by National Testing Network (NTN) or another licensed CPAT provider. CPAT certification must be completed within the past twelve (12) months of offer acceptance date.

(CERTIFIED PARAMEDICS ARE EXEMPT FROM THE WRITTEN TESTING COMPONENT)
Lake Havasu City Fire Department has partnered with National Testing Network (NTN) to administer the written exam and Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT). You must schedule your written exam and (CPAT) with National Testing Network (NTN) directly by visiting their website at www.nationaltestingnetwork.com. Candidates may schedule testing at any of the testing facilities; however, testing must be completed before being considered for testing. Lake Havasu City must be a chosen department to view your test scores as outlined on the National Testing Network website. Testing with National Testing Network must have been completed within the last twelve (12) months with an overall score of 70% or better.
MINIMUM QUALIFICAITONS:
Incumbent must be at least 18 years old.
High School Diploma or GED equivalency and certification requirements as listed above.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Performs work determined by your level of position; performing firefighting and fire service duties in support of the Fire Department including responding to all fire alarms and performing firefighting services and emergency services, administering proper first aid as needed and necessary, training staff and performing maintenance and repair on fire equipment, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the supervision of the Fire Captain.




The City reserves the right to consider only the most highly qualified applicants. The succeeding examination processes may be required: training and experience, testing, panel
interview, employment eligibility verification (EEV) requirements, personnel evaluation profile (PEP), polygraph test, background investigation and alcohol/drug screening test. Appointment subject to successful background investigation and City paid post-employment Job Bulletin medical examination after offer of employment has been made.
