Job Description
The City of Naperville's Fire Department is seeking a full-time Assistant Fire Marshal to perform inspections and plan reviews for new and existing multi-family and commercial occupancies and to enforce the City's fire prevention laws, ordinances and regulations. May conduct fire investigations at major Fire Department incidents. Serves as back-up to the Fire Marshal, as needed.
This is a civilian (non-sworn), exempt-level position that will report to the Fire Marshal. The position works Monday ? Friday (8:00 a.m. ? 5:00 p.m.), however some inspections may be required outside of normal work hours, and this position is subject to recall.

Minimum of range: $63,858 (annual) ? Midpoint of range: $82,342 (annual)

Duties
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Fire Engineering, or related field, and be Illinois-certified as an Advanced Fire Protection Officer or equivalent and Illinois-certified as a Fire Investigator, as well as having a minimum of three years of experience in fire inspection, fire alarm and sprinkler plan review, and code enforcement, and a valid State of Illinois Class D Driver's license. Preferred credentials include Fire Inspector II and Plans Examiner Certification from the International Code Council, one to three years of experience in a supervisory position, fire service and hazardous materials mitigation experience, and an Illinois state licensed engineer, preferably as a Fire Protection Engineer.
