Requirements

WCESD No. 5 will be accepting applications for the position of shift officer on A Shift. WCESD No. 5 provides fire and medical first responder service to 75 square miles of northern Williamson County Texas. WCESD No. 5 is a rapidly growing area with an expanding call volume.

Currently ESD No. 5 is staffing two personnel per shift. The duty officer responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
? Ensure that all equipment is checked and in good working order.
? Supervision of firefighter assigned to his/her shift
? Ensure that the station, equipment and apparatus are maintained properly.
? Make strategic and tactical decisions on the scene of emergency incidents.
? Make decisions on which apparatus will respond to different call types.
? Complete all paperwork and data entry as required.
? Take part in projects and committees as directed by the Fire Chief.
? Remain current on fire and medical continuing education.
? Participate in all required training and physical fitness activities.
? Maintain adherence to all SOG?s, SOP?s and Rules and Regulations established by the district.

? Accrual of 5.54 sick hours and 5.00 vacation hours each pay period. (Sick and vacation hours may be utilized after 180 days of employment)
? 72 hours of paid time off to compensate for holidays. (Holiday time may be utilized after 180 days of employment)

Required Qualifications: (TCFP and DSHS certifications will be verified online)
? Minimum of TCFP or IFSAC intermediate fire fighter certification.
? Minimum of National registry or Texas DSHS EMT-B certification.
? Driver Pump Operator certification
? Minimum of Fire officer 1 certification
? Minimum of TCFP or IFSAC Fire Instructor 1 certification
? Minimum of TCFP or IFSAC Basic Fire Inspector certification.
? Minimum of 4 years of experience as a paid fire fighter with a career fire department.
? Working knowledge of Micro-soft Excel, Word, and Power Point applications.
? Ability to speak English fluently.
? State of Texas Class B driver?s license.

Preferred qualifications:
? Ability to speak Spanish.

Written test: DATE: TBA (Time and date of the written test as well as the source material will be provided to the applicants that are approved after the applications are reviewed)

Physical agility test: Details and times of the physical agility testing will be provided to the approved applicants.
Interview: Those applicants that pass both the written test and physical agility test will be scheduled for an interview.
