Overview 

The sixth-largest city in metropolitan Broward County, Pompano Beach has a regular population of about 121,000; seasonal residents are estimated to increase the population to 150,000. The Pompano Beach Fire/Rescue Department, which achieved the prestigious distinctions as an ISO Class 1 Fire department, CFAI Accreditation, and CAAS Accreditation, offers its residents a full complement of firefighting and emergency medical services, including ambulance service. The Department's 250+ employees (200+ combat personnel) are assigned to seven stations throughout the city. Firefighters work a 24-hour shift with one shift on duty and two consecutive days off duty. Specialty units include a Fire Prevention Bureau and a Training Unit. The Department also has an Ocean Rescue division.
