Position Summary
Under the general direction and supervision of the EMS Coordinator,the EMS/Fire Support
Technician is responsible for supporting daily operations of the Department of EMS,
including readiness and maintenance of firefighting equipment, station cleanliness,
administrative support, and basic EMS assistance. The position requires a motivated
individual with strong organizational skills, willingness to work in emergency settings, and
the ability to become an active member of the EMS Department within 3 months of hire.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Check, charge, and operate firefighting equipment and apparatus; ensure operational
readiness and perform routine maintenance.
• Check ambulances daily and restock medical supplies as needed.
• Respond to fire and emergency calls as assigned.
• Support fire prevention, safety education, and training events.
• Assist with fire and EMS grant research and applications.
• Support community fundraising efforts for the EMS/Fire Hall
Qualifications
• Must have high school diploma or GED.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs
• Valid Alaska State Driver’s License within 30 days of hire.
• Must pass background investigation and pre-employment drug screening.
• Must be at least 21 year of age
