Job Description
Entry-level firefighter testing is open now through October 14, 2026. Starting salary is $75,304 a year on the department's 48/96 schedule, with additional pay for advanced EMS certifications.
Benefits include the Wyoming Retirement System Firefighter Pension Plan B, optional 457(b), medical, dental and vision insurance, HSA/FSA options, life insurance, paid leave and 13 paid fire holidays.
How to apply: complete the NTN FireTEAM and PSSA exam through the National Testing Network and submit the City of Rock Springs Fire Department application, both by October 14, 2026 at 6:00 PM MDT. Candidates who pass are invited to the Physical Agility Test on October 21 and the Fire Civil Service oral interview on October 22, 2026.
Requirements
- At least 19, high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license (Wyoming license within 90 days), U.S. citizen, NFPA 1582 medical standard, no criminal history
