As a Wildland Firefighter (Helitack Squad Boss) your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Serves as a squad leader of a helitack crew. Participates in and may direct helicopter operations and directs the work of a small crew of firefighters in building firelines, burnout, mopping up, and patrolling firelines. Applies an understanding of firefighter safety, fire behavior, topography of the area, weather, fuels, and training in fire management. Coordinates and participates in completion of helicopter planning documentation (e.g., load calculations, aviation safety plan, daily logs). Directs assigned suppression operations and recommends and implements tactical strategies on fires. Duties listed are at the GW-07 full performance level. INDIAN PREFERENCE will be applied to candidates that are interested in applying for the positions in the following locations ONLY: Crow Agency, MT Indian Preference will NOT be applied to those candidates interested in applying to the position in all other locations.
