Learn more about this authority at: Direct Hire Authority This Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Wildland Fire Operations Specialist) Moderate Complexity position is with the US Wildland Fire Service, GW-0456-10 working in the listed locations. In order to be considered for any duty location, ensure desired locations are selected. Applicants will not be considered for locations not selected.

INDIAN PREFERENCE will be applied to candidates that are interested in applying for the positions in the following locations ONLY: Crow Agency, MT Harlem, MT Poplar, MT San Juan Pueblo (Ohkay Owingeh), NM Indian Preference will NOT be applied to those candidates interested in applying to the position in all other locations. As a Supervisory Wildland Firefighter (Wildland Fire Operations Specialist) - Moderate Complexity your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Provides oversight during initial and extended attack fires and directs fireline activities and tactics of dispersed firefighters, resources, equipment, and aircraft. Supervises multiple Supervisory Wildland Firefighters and provides second-level supervision over staff. Applies knowledge of firefighter safety, fire behavior, topography of the area, weather, fuels, and training in fire management. Determines appropriate fireline tactics and properly locates fireline and determines appropriate construction methods.
