Intern Firefighter

North Shore Fire/Rescue is accepting applications for the position of Intern Firefighter. This is an unpaid position. Intern Firefighters are expected to attend mandatory training and events as scheduled by the Department.

Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include: High School Diploma, 18 years of age by due date of application, a valid Drivers License or ability to obtain one at time of appointment. Individual mentoring provided for guidance through Firefighter I certification, EMT-Basic and Paramedic Licensure.

The Department plans to tentatively evaluate applications on a quarterly basis.

Please note: Qualified candidates must successfully pass oral interviews, a background investigation, medical examination and drug screen and Fire Commission approval. Candidates must provide a Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) certificate within one year of the start of the Internship. Additionally, candidates must obtain State of Wisconsin Firefighter I certification and State of Wisconsin Emergency Medical Technican within two years of the start of the internship.

North Shore Fire/Rescue provides fire, rescue and emergency medical services to the communities of Bayside, Brown Deer, Fox Point, Glendale, River Hills, Shorewood and Whitefish Bay.
