Firefighter/Paramedic

Employees in this position provide fire protection and emergency medical services for the preservation of life and property. This is accomplished by responding to emergency calls, providing basic and advanced-level emergency medical services, hazardous materials responses, participating in firefighting and rescue activities, providing public education, engaging in fire prevention duties. Other duties include maintaining the fire station, Hazmat operations, performing inspections of commercial/residential properties, conducting tours, inspecting and repairing equipment, and performing related duties as assigned.

Essential duties include: maintaining prompt and regular physical attendance; operating designated motor vehicles and equipment; providing truthful communications; testifying in court as needed; maintaining effective working relationships; writing thorough reports; maintaining availability for emergency response; initiating community contact; maintaining strict confidentiality per Wisconsin law and HIPAA; attending required training and drills; delivering public education programs; performing search and rescue operations; assisting in emergency preparedness planning; performing general facility maintenance; washing and maintaining apparatus and equipment; performing firefighting activities including driving apparatus, operating pumps, laying hose, and fire suppression; ventilating structures; performing forcible entry operations; performing salvage operations; responding to emergency medical incidents; analyzing patient needs and administering advanced emergency medical assistance; performing patient examinations and administering medications; decontaminating victims exposed to hazardous materials; and other related duties.

Requirements: High School Graduate or GED; Valid Wisconsin Driver's License; State of Wisconsin EMT Basic; State of Wisconsin Certified Firefighter I (or ability to complete within 1 year); Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within 18 months of hire; Must be at least 18 years old; United States citizen; Good moral character; Good physical condition; Good driving record; Ability to clearly speak, read, and write English; Must pass drug screening; Must agree to live 15 air miles from Antigo city limits within 6 months of hire; No tobacco use as condition of employment

Salary: $2,462.77 Biweekly
