Job Description

Moses Lake Fire Department is looking for motivated team players, who take pride in their work, and want to work in a progressive minded department that is rapidly evolving from our "small town" roots into a modern, well equipped, and well-trained fire department. MLFD is currently working to establish a Firefighter eligibility list.

The Moses Lake Fire Department is a career fire department that operates on a 48/96 work schedule and provides firefighters with 15 annual Kelly days, supporting a healthy work–life balance. The department prides itself on being progressive and continually growing to meet the community's needs. Moses Lake firefighters deliver a full range of services, including fire suppression, advanced life support, and emergency medical transport. The department is also an active partner in the regional Grant County Hazardous Materials Team and provides specialized response capabilities such as technical rescue, ice rescue, and water rescue. In addition to emergency response, the Moses Lake Fire Department is committed to community education and engagement, building strong relationships with residents as it serves an expanding city. Firefighters are represented by IAFF Local 1258, ensuring a strong voice in labor representation.

Benefits include: Full medical, dental, and vision, 2% matching deferred compensation, and optional short term and long-term disability insurance. Uniformed members are part of the LEOFF 2 retirement system.

Laternal Entry Firefighter is defined as follows: an applicant must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English; must possess a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician certification, or for lateral firefighter/paramedic positions, a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedic certification; must have attended an agency accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro-Board; and must have successfully completed either one (1) year of employment with a career fire department or three (3) years as a volunteer firefighter within the preceding four (4) years.

Requirements: Minimum age 18, US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident, High School Diploma/GED, Valid Driver's License, Fluent English (read, write, speak), Vision correctable to 20/20, Washington State EMT or Paramedic certification, Firefighter 1 certification from IFSAC or Pro-Board accredited agency, 1 year career fire department experience or 3 years volunteer experience within preceding 4 years, No adult felony convictions, No juvenile felony convictions, No illegal drug use in last 5 years, No unlawful sexual misconduct, Written examination required, CPAT required (within 6 months)

Salary: Firefighter/EMT: $85,489.43 to $106,848.67 top step
