Entry Level Firefighter/EMT

Thank you for your interest in Sunnyside Fire! In order to be eligible to participate in the City's application screening process as an entry level applicant, the following should be completed in this order: Complete written testing with Public Safety Testing (PST). Complete the online Personal History Statement (PHS) on your PST profile. Obtain a valid CPAT. The CPAT can be obtained from any provider (including PST), but written testing and PHS must be completed with PST. (Need Proof of completed CPAT prior to Chief Interview) Scores from the PST eligibility list are good for one (1) year from the date of PST testing.

Hiring Status: The eligibility list is a continuous listing and maintained as scores are received from PST with oral board interviews conducted on an as-needed basis. Vacancies are filled by Civil Service "rule of three" with the top three candidates forwarded to the appointing authority for background investigation & selection as vacancies occur. We are also creating a list of eligible candidates for future hires.

Requirements: Age 20, US Citizen, High School Grad/GED, Valid Washington State Driver's License, No felony convictions as an adult, EMT Certification, Ability to read, speak and write English, Vision correctable to 20/20, Written examination required, CPAT required (within 12 months), PST Personal History Statement required within 14 days of passing exam(s). Preferred: Firefighter 1 Certification, Prior FF Experience, Prior EMT Experience

Salary: FF Base Salary per month as of Jan 1 2026- $6,213.12 Top step FF Salary per month as of Jan 1 2026- $7,552.09
