Job Description
Position: FIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDIC
Duties: Work includes responding to and dealing with emergency situations and natural conditions that pose a threat to life and property to include fire suppression activities. Firefighter / Paramedics perform duties in the following areas: Maintenance, inspections, record keeping, testing, and minor repairs of fire hydrants, apparatus and equipment, and fire facilities and equipment, fire prevention programs (code enforcement, public education, public relations, and fire investigations); training activities and skill maintenance, and maintenance of quarters in accordance with department policies and procedures. Firefighters work under the direction of a commanding officer. Firefighter / Paramedic will also respond to medical emergencies as well as fire emergencies and provide prehospital care to victims of injury or illness.
Essential Function of the Job: Perform hazardous tasks for long periods of time in emergency conditions of high stress; strenuous physical exertion under such conditions as heights, wet and/or cramped surroundings, hot smoky environments and limited visibility. Drive, operate, and maintain all fire department equipment and apparatus. Drive or ride in fire department apparatus to fire and medical type alarms, place equipment, lay and connect hoses and nozzles, raise and climb ladders, use chemical extinguishers and agents. Search and remove persons from danger and administer emergency medical aid as required. Perform fire suppression activities to include search and rescue, offensive and defensive fire operations, advancing hose lines, establishing and participating in Rapid Intervention teams. Performs complex diagnostic and medical procedures including intravenous cannulation, endotracheal intubation, recognition of cardiac arrhythmias and administration of various medications.
Hours of Work: 4 platoon system with 24 hours on, 72 hours off, 12 scheduled Debit days per CBA

Requirements: High school diploma or GED, 21 years of age, valid Washington State driver's license, current Paramedic certification from State of Washington Department of Health, IFSAC Firefighter 1 Certification required within one year of hire date, pass physical agility test (CPAT), medical exam, psychological exam, background investigation, no adult felony convictions, US Citizen or acceptable I-9 documentation, vision correctable to 20/20, 1 year experience preferred but not required
Salary: $7640-$8597 per month
