Lateral Firefighter Paramedic

The Moses Lake Fire Department is a career fire department that operates on a 48/96 work schedule and provides firefighters with 15 annual Kelly days, supporting a healthy work–life balance. The department prides itself on being progressive and continually growing to meet the community's needs. Moses Lake firefighters deliver a full range of services, including fire suppression, advanced life support, and emergency medical transport. The department is also an active partner in the regional Grant County Hazardous Materials Team and provides specialized response capabilities such as technical rescue, ice rescue, and water rescue. In addition to emergency response, the Moses Lake Fire Department is committed to community education and engagement, building strong relationships with residents as it serves an expanding city. Firefighters are represented by IAFF Local 1258, ensuring a strong voice in labor representation.

Lateral Entry Firefighter is defined as follows: an applicant must be able to fluently read, write, and speak English; must possess a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician certification, or for lateral firefighter/paramedic positions, a Washington State Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedic certification; must have attended an agency accredited by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC) or Pro-Board; and must have successfully completed either one (1) year of employment with a career fire department or three (3) years as a volunteer firefighter within the preceding four (4) years.

Requirements: Age 18+, US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident, High School Diploma/GED, Valid Driver's License, Firefighter 1 Certification, Paramedic Certification, Washington State EMT-Paramedic certification, 1 year career fire department experience or 3 years volunteer firefighter experience within preceding 4 years, IFSAC or Pro-Board certified, CPAT passed within 6 months, Written Examination required, Pass PST written exam, No felony convictions as adult, No felony convictions as juvenile, No illegal drug use in last 5 years, No traffic crime convictions in last 5 years, Vision requirements per NFPA 1582, English language fluency

Salary: FF/EMT: $85,489.43 to $106,848.67 top step. Employees who possess and maintain a paramedic certification and operate at such capacity for the City of Moses Lake Fire Department will receive a 12% increase of the top step for Firefighter/EMT.
