Volunteer Firefighter

Join as a firefighter! All Northeast VFD staff are fully volunteer. They give their time to the department when they can. How frequently and when you volunteer are up to you.

All members go through a six-month probationary period where they are asked to attend our monthly meetings and trainings. You will join other probationary members through the process of advancing your skills and knowledge of the fire service. Your probationary curriculum is a structured course we developed based on widely accepted best-practices; State of Texas firefighter certification guidelines.

What You'll Learn & Do: Respond To Calls, Memorize Trucks & Equipment, Attend Monthly Training, Clean Apparatus, Monthly Department Meeting, Wash Apparatus, Prepare for Firefighter 1 Class, Apparatus Checks & Maintenance.

Upon a vote in favor by the full membership, you will immediately move from Probationary status to full Membership. At this point you are now a full member and part of a long history of brotherhood. You will have the same rights and responsibilities as the rest of the full membership. As a Member, you will now be able to vote on all matters before the full membership, continue to go on calls, and qualify for increasing levels of responsibility.

Applications for prospective members are accepted year-round. Applicants will be contacted prior to the start date to schedule an informal interview with the fire officers.

Requirements: 18 years of age, live or work in Midland County or a reasonable distance from the NEVFD response district, pass a background check
