Job Description
Full-Time and Part-Time Opportunities Available / Non-Exempt
Schedule: 24-hour shifts (24 on / 48 off) Estimated First-Year Earnings: $78,000-$82,000 based on the regular shift schedule, with additional overtime opportunities available.
Position Summary
Roane County is seeking a dedicated and skilled Paramedic to join our Office of Emergency Services. Paramedics are vital members of our public safety team, responsible for delivering high-quality pre-hospital care to patients in emergency and non-emergency situations. This position demands a strong commitment to public service, clinical excellence, and professionalism.
Responsibilities
Respond promptly and professionally to emergency medical calls
Provide comprehensive patient assessments and advanced life support care
Ensure proper transfer of care to receiving medical facilities
Maintain complete and timely documentation of all patient encounters
Perform routine maintenance of the ambulance, station facilities, and medical equipment
Maintain appropriate inventory and cleanliness of supplies and units
Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
Serve as a preceptor for students and new hires, as assigned
Participate in continuing education and quality improvement programs
Adhere to all Roane County EMS policies, protocols, and medical direction
Working Conditions and Physical Demand
Work is performed in varied settings including outdoors, in homes, and healthcare facilities
Must be able to lift and carry equipment and patients in challenging conditions
Exposure to a range of environmental and weather conditions
Required to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Must be able to operate independently in high-pressure emergency scenarios

Requirements: Valid Tennessee Paramedic License, current AHA approved CPR certification, Valid Tennessee Driver's License, Knowledge of Tennessee EMS Scope of Practice, Excellent interpersonal communication and documentation skills, Must be physically able to perform emergency medical tasks including lifting patients and equipment, Ability to work independently under pressure and exercise sound judgment. Preferred: ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support)
