SUMMARY
Under the general direction of the Captain, members perform work in a variety of situations, including fire suppression, emergency medical services, rescue, and other areas. The position is responsible for protecting life and property by performing firefighting, emergency aid, hazardous materials, and fire prevention duties. The position maintains fire equipment, apparatus, and facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responds promptly and efficiently to all fire, rescue, and hazardous materials incidents and alarms
Understands fire ground procedures including, but not limited to, fire streams, forcible entry, water supplies, salvage, ventilation, overhaul and command procedures
Uses fire equipment, including hose lines, nozzles, pumps, hydrants, extinguishers, ladders, hand tools, extrication tools, and breathing apparatus
Responds promptly and efficiently to medical incidents and understands emergency medical procedures including airway management, bandaging, CPR, splinting, spinal immobilization, etc.
Completes daily, monthly, and annual fire and medical training necessary to maintain all required certifications - training includes in-house quick drills and annual skills testing
Drives and operates department apparatus in emergency and non-emergency situations
Conducts tours, lectures and video presentations, displays fire apparatus, participates in public demonstrations at local school programs and various civic and City functions
Completes daily reports on the testing of fire and medical equipment
Follows the direction of the Driver/Operator in performing daily duties as delegated by the Shift Captain
Promotes a positive attitude among department personnel and other contacts
Maintains personal fitness in order to effectively perform essential duties of the job
Completes written and verbal reports of patient care
May act as Driver Engineer as needed
Maintains and cleans the building and all apparatus
Ensures the building and vehicles are ready for public inspection at all times
Maintains all required certifications
Promotes a positive image in performing community services (community meetings, problem-solving resources, etc.)
Performs all assigned duties and tasks with the highest regard for highest quality customer service
Coordinates activities with peers, coworkers, and other departmental personnel to ensure consistency in interpretation, adherence to, and implementation of Administrative Orders, City Ordinances, departmental, personnel, and safety policies, procedures, and laws
Provides effective control and coordination of resources and activities within the department, unit, or section to which assigned
Routinely performs inspections of operational functions to identify inefficient or ineffective processes and provides solutions
Develops own knowledge, skills and abilities to enhance and ensure continued success and meets all mandated training requirements
Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements: Age 18+, U.S. Citizen, High School Diploma or GED, Valid Texas Driver's License, Basic Firefighter certification (TCFP), EMT-Basic certification (DSHS), NIMS 100/200/700/800 certifications within 1 year, Class B Driver's License within 1 year, Pass drug screen, Pass background check, Medical Director approval, Ability to lift 70+ lbs, Good vision and hearing

Salary: $65,532.60 - $75,971.97 Annually
