Firefighter II

Performs general firefighting work in the prevention, control, and suppression of structural and non-structural fires, and skilled Emergency Medical Technician lifesaving and technical emergency services work in the field. Responds to non-emergency and emergency incidents; renders emergency medical assistance and first aid services while on-scene; performs search and rescue for trapped or injured persons; operates fire rescue equipment; and prepares reports regarding emergency incidents as assigned. Participates in cleaning and maintaining facilities, grounds, equipment, and apparatus; ensures that appropriate conditions are maintained at assigned facility; and ensures that all equipment and apparatus is in a constant state of readiness for emergency calls.

Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent is required. A valid S.C. driver's license is required. Must have an IFSAC NFPA Firefighter 2 or Pro Board certification. Must have successfully completed required courses and certification in National Incident Management Systems and Incident Command Systems. Must have successfully completed required courses and possess NREMT certification and qualify for SC DHEC licensure.
