Public Safety Officer

Under close supervision exercises responsibilities for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare. Performs investigations of accidents; etc. Exercises independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations, exercising safety practices and procedures. Performs animal control duties as needed. Works under stressful, high-risk conditions. Reports to the Sergeant.

Must be 21 Years of age with no criminal record. Must be a High School Graduate. Police and Fire Certification Preferred, but not required. Will be required to successfully complete prescribed course of study at the S.C. Criminal Justice Training Academy and Fire Academy. Must be able to maintain required level of proficiency in the use of firearms and evasive action/driving skills. Valid S.C. Driver's License is required.

Salary: Salary – $20.61/hour (non-certified), $22.90/hour (certified).
