Junior Firefighter

Junior Firefighter Program – Ages 16–17. Individuals may be considered for participation in the Marion Fire Department's Junior Firefighter Program beginning at age 16. Junior members may participate in approved training and may complete select certification courses for which they are eligible at age 16, in accordance with applicable South Carolina Fire Academy requirements and department policies. Participation in the Junior Firefighter Program provides young members an opportunity to begin developing their fire service knowledge and skills before reaching adulthood. Upon reaching age 18, eligible members may complete any remaining requirements necessary to obtain full firefighter certification and transition into regular volunteer firefighter membership. Junior members are limited to training and activities permitted for their age and are not authorized to perform duties prohibited for minors.
