Firefighter/Rescue Person EMT-C

Applications are now being accepted by the Town of North Kingstown, RI for the following position: Firefighter /Rescue Person EMT-C

Expected to perform a full range of duties as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Responds to fire alarms, emergency medical calls, and other emergencies. Performs basic firefighting operations such as stretching hoses, rescuing injured people, and other general firefighting operations. Performs advanced life support functions commensurate with level of certification. Provides emergency medical functions as necessary to treat sick or injured patients at the advanced life support level. Performs general fire and EMS station household duties including maintaining hose, and apparatus, ambulance and equipment cleaning and decontamination, and minor maintenance and repair work. Participates in drills in both the classroom and field settings to maintain the knowledge, skills and abilities required to meet the National Fire Protection Association standards as outlined in NFPA 1001 and NFPA 1002 and to maintain Rhode Island EMT-C (or higher) certification. Studies hydrant, fire alarm, street, health care facility and other business district maps, and helps formulates pre-emergency plans, including tactical surveys of buildings. Participates in public education programs in support of the Fire Prevention Bureau. Abides by all Town and departmental rules and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned

Full time employment. Schedule based on a 42-hour average workweek. The work schedule is 1 day on duty (24 hours), 2 days off duty (48 hours), 1 day on duty (24 hours), followed by 4 days off duty (96 hours).

Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, 18 years of age or older, Valid Driver's License, Reside within 25-mile radius of Station 1/8150 Post Road, Valid RIAFC Entry Level Fire Fighter Written Exam at the closing of applications, Valid RI EMT-C license at the time of employment, Valid RIAFC PPA at the time of employment, US Citizen

Salary: Annual salary after completing probation (1 year): $62,484 / $1,202 weekly. Guaranteed annual wage step increases (years 2-5): $72,727 / $1,398 weekly. Additional Longevity increases 6%-13.5% [Top Step Private w/ Max. Longevity]: $82,545 / $1,587 weekly
