Job Description
Sutherlin Fire Department's CWE Student Program:
Receive firefighting training and experience while you attend college
Obtain National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Firefighter 1 certification and more
Gain experience working alongside and as a member of the crew on a staffed Engine Company
Residency possibly available at a local fire station
CWE Students are perfect for those who do not need a scholarship, or for those who want to start before a scholarship become available
Fall 2026 Recruitment Timeline:
Recruitment Opens: Sept. 14, 2026
Recruitment Closes: Oct. 16, 2026
Interviews: Late Oct. 2026
Start: Mid Nov. 2026
Fire Academy: January 2027 – April 2027 (One or two Evenings a week, and Weekends)
