Firefighter {Part-Time}

The City of Independence is seeking a Part-Time Firefighter to join the City's Fire Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Suppression of Fire. Prevention of Fire. Perform Emergency Medical Care. Handling of Hazardous Materials; Usually Under Hazardous Conditions. Responds to Alarms. Provides Emergency Medical Service & Transport. Assists in Suppression of Fires Including Entry, Rescue, Ventilating and Salvage Work. Conducts Fire Scene Investigation Activities. Conducts Fire Inspections. Acts as a Community Relations Representative to the Public. Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Information: The starting rate of pay for this role is $26.00 per hour with the possibility of bonus pay depending on the number of hours worked in a year. Shifts will be (8) to (24) hours in length. The City of Independence expects that all employees work a minimum number of hours per month and comply with all departmental training requirements (to be determined based on the evolving needs of the department).

Requirements: High school graduation or G.E.D., Valid State of Ohio EMT Paramedic Certification, Valid State of Ohio Firefighter I & II Certification, Valid State of Ohio driver's license with good driving record (no more than 6 points), Valid active Physical Agility Test Certification from Cuyahoga Community College or Auburn Career Center with finishing time of 5:00 minutes or less, U.S. citizenship, ability to commute to Independence Fire Station, good moral character

Salary: $26.00 - $27.00 Hourly
