Part-Time Firefighter

The Town of Winterville is currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of part-time Firefighter. Work involves completing extensive classroom and field training for firefighting, rescue and ems operations, operating fire-rescue-ems communication equipment, maintaining all fire-rescue-ems equipment and vehicles, and other associated duties. Applicant must be able to follow all applicable guidelines and protocols.

Employees in this class are subject to hazard associated with fire, rescue and ems including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and exposure to various hazards such as loud noises, vibrations, fire, smoke, odors, mists, oils, chemicals, and bodily fluids. Environments are inherently dangerous. Ability to function on a regular basis while using personal protective equipment to include SCBA is required.

Graduation from high school or the equivalent with a North Carolina Fire & Rescue Commission Firefighter I-II certification. Qualified applicants must also be NIMS compliant and have a valid North Carolina Class C Driver's License. Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background, and NFPA/OSHA physical evaluation.
