Minimum Qualifications
To apply, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or GED
- Hold a valid North Carolina driver's license
- Pass a physical agility test and written exam
- Successfully complete background and drug screening

What to Expect During the Recruitment and Hiring Process:
Application Period: Submit your application online during the open recruitment window.
Written Testing & SPAC Walkthrough: Complete a multiple-choice written exam and tour the physical agility course so you know what to expect before the real test.
SPAC Physical Agility Test: Applicants will return to complete the SPAC, which assesses physical fitness and job-related tasks required of a firefighter.
Interviews: Participate in a structured interview to assess your readiness, communication, and alignment with our department values.

Training You'll Receive
All new hires undergo comprehensive training through SFD and state-certified programs. This training ensures you are fully prepared to handle fire suppression, medical calls, rescue operations, and more - all with confidence and professionalism.
