Firefighter/EMS

The City of Brigan�ne Fire & EMS Department is accep�ng applica�ons for the posi�on of Firefighter/EMT. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Minimum Qualifica�ons 1. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. 2. Complete and submit a City of Brigan�ne Applica�on for Employment. 3. Possess a current, valid New Jersey Driver’s License and provide a copy with the applica�on. 4. Possess a current, valid New Jersey Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) cer�fica�on or provide documenta�on verifying current enrollment in a New Jersey State-approved EMT course. o Applicants must possess a current, valid New Jersey EMT cer�fica�on at the �me of appointment. 5. Possess a current, valid CPR cer�fica�on acceptable to the Department and provide a copy with the applica�on. 6. Be a resident of the City of Brigan�ne. 7. Be at least 20 years of age at the �me of applica�on and 21 years of age at the �me of appointment. o Candidates who have not reached age 21 when considered for appointment will be passed over un�l they meet the minimum age requirement. 8. Be of sound moral character. 9. Be eligible for enrollment in the New Jersey Police and Firemen’s Re�rement System (PFRS). 10. Be a United States ci�zen. 11. Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language proficiently. 12. Successfully complete all phases of the selec�on process, which may include: • Writen examina�on • Physical performance test • Oral interview • Background inves�ga�on • City Physician’s medical examina�on • Drug screening • Psychological screening2.3 Hiring Criteria 2026 Applicants must provide the required medical clearance and liability documenta�on from a physician prior to par�cipa�ng in the physical performance test. 13. All licenses, cer�fica�ons, and creden�als required for appointment must be current, valid, and in good standing at the �me of appointment. Any required license, cer�fica�on, or creden�al that is expired, suspended, revoked, or otherwise invalid at the �me of appointment shall disqualify the applicant from appointment. 14. Pay a $50.00 non-refundable tes�ng fee for administra�on of the writen examina�on. Payment must be made by check or money order payable to the “City of Brigan�ne” and submited with the completed applica�on package. Applica�on Informa�on Applica�ons are available for pick up only to the applicant from the Office of the Fire Chief, 1417 W. Brigan�ne Ave., during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Completed applica�on packages must be submited to the Office of the Fire Chief during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Previously submited applica�ons will not be carried over and must be resubmited for considera�on. APPLICATION DEADLINE Friday, October 2, 2026, at 12:00 Noon Applica�ons received a�er the deadline will not be accepted or considered. WRITTEN EXAMINATION Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. Brigan�ne Community Center 265 42nd Street, 2nd floor Brigan�ne, New Jersey Late arrivals will not be admited.
