Volunteer Firefighter (Exterior)

South Bay Fire Department has a limited number of openings for new volunteers to respond to two basic community needs; the first is fire prevention and the second, to respond to fire and medical emergencies. Rewards from the fire and rescue service are beyond description. There is a sense of accomplishment after controlling a building fire, an elation when a child is born, compassion for accident victims, and fulfillment in teaching fire safety. This list goes on and on.

This business is not for everyone. You need more than just a desire to help people. You need courage, dedication, assertiveness, a willingness to learn new skills and face new challenges. The fire and rescue service is not for the meek, the timid, or for those who lose control during a crisis.

Filling the shoes of a firefighter and/or EMT is not for everyone but for someone who cares for the welfare of life and property. You will never know unless you try it. Come and experience an evening with the South Bay Fire Department any Monday night beginning at 6:30pm.
