Volunteer Firefighter-EMT

Complete firefighter recruit training and EMT education, then progress through supervised field operations and apparatus qualification. Training includes firefighting and rescue fundamentals, hazardous materials training, EMT education and certification pathway, and apparatus and field development.

Initial training is approximately 450 hours of structured fire, rescue, hazardous materials and EMS education, followed by a one-year probationary period with continued training through supervised field experience.

Basic requirements: At least 18 years old with high school diploma; valid driver's license; current automobile insurance; pass physical evaluation; pass background check; meet academy attendance and continuing development expectations.

Volunteer benefits include fire recruit training, monthly fire and EMS training, EMT education and certification, specialized and leadership training, protective and wildland gear, and station drills and apparatus training. Station residency available with rent-free living, utilities and internet included, shared facilities, and additional response experience.
