Volunteer EMS Responder

Complete EMT training and selected recruit-academy components while excluding the portions that require SCBA use.

Training includes:
- Emergency medical training
- Selected academy instruction
- Supervised response experience
- Continuing EMS education

Initial training is approximately 450 hours of structured fire, rescue, hazardous materials and EMS education, followed by a one-year probationary period with continued training through supervised field experience.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Age: At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma
- Valid driver's license (must maintain)
- Current automobile insurance coverage (must maintain)
- Pass physical evaluation
- Pass background check (employment, driving and criminal history)
- Meet academy attendance and continuing development expectations
