Firefighter

The South Lyon Fire Department is currently accepting applications for paid-on-call firefighters (18+ years old). All required training is provided completely free and you are compensated for attending training. Classes are held on evenings and weekends.

All paid-on-call Firefighter applicants must be eighteen (18) years of age and have at minimum, a high school diploma or G.E.D. All applicants must reside within four (4) miles of the fire station. Valid Michigan driver's license with good driving record. No felony, drug, violent crime, or criminal sexual conduct convictions.

The South Lyon Fire Department requires all probationary firefighters to successfully complete credentials courses including EMT Basic, Firefighter I & II, Hazardous Materials First Responder - Operations, Emergency Vehicle Operator Course, Vehicle Extrication, and National Incident Management System. SLFD will pay for the tuition and supply the equipment for all courses. Probationary firefighters are compensated for their time in class. Failure to pass any required courses will result in termination of employment.

Requirements: 18+ years old, high school diploma or G.E.D., valid Michigan driver's license with good driving record, reside within 4 miles of fire station, no felony/drug/violent crime/criminal sexual conduct convictions
