Firefighter/Paramedic

TITLE: FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC
CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time IAFF Union Position
LOCATION: Delhi Charter Township Fire Department 2074 Aurelius Road Holt, Michigan 48842

GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the direction of the supervising officer, is responsible for protecting life, property, and the environment from fire; providing rescue and emergency medical services; containing and controlling the accidental or illegal intentional release of hazardous materials; performing fire code compliance inspections and delivering community fire education programs; operating and performing general maintenance on fire department vehicles and equipment and cleaning and maintaining fire department facilities. Performs a variety of miscellaneous functions as may be required in the day to day operations of the fire department.

EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Possession of a High School diploma or the equivalent. Licensed by the State of Michigan as Paramedic. Certified by the State of Michigan as a Firefighter I and Firefighter II. State of Michigan certification at the Hazardous Materials Operations level.
Experience: Experience as a Paramedic and Firefighter preferred.
Other Requirements:
- Possession of a valid State of Michigan Driver's License.
- Current Basic Life Support Certification
- Current Authorization by Tri-County Emergency Medical Control Authority
- Basic computer data entry knowledge helpful

Exceptions: State of Michigan Licensed EMTs will be considered provided they meet all other employment qualifications. Hourly rate for EMTs will be (Pay Grade 4) $22.79/hour per IAFF contract.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD: 12 Months
HOURS TO BE WORKED: 24 hour shifts, 56 hour work week
