Paid-On-Call-Firefighter

Paid-On-Call Firefighter Requirements: 18 years of age High school diploma Valid Michigan Driver’s License Pass Oral Interview Pass Psychological Exam Pass Medical Exam Pass Drug Screen All new recruits will be required to attend and successfully pass a local Firefighter I and Firefighter II training academy. The academy includes approximately 350 hours of instruction. Training classes are offered on two evenings each week and a couple of Saturdays each month. The academy is paid for by the department and new recruits are paid while they attend training. After successful completion of the academy, firefighters respond to fire incidents at all times of the day and night, attend required monthly trainings and other department functions. The time commitment after the completion of the academy is relatively low.
