Deputy Fire Chief

Town of Bucksport – Deputy Fire Chief The Town of Bucksport is seeking a qualified candidate for an energetic and creative Deputy Fire Chief to lead our Fire and EMS Department. The Deputy Fire Chief position requires a strategic and innovated person to manage a thriving department consisting of 4 full-time Captains, 8 full-time firefighters, 12 per diem and 8 call members. The Deputy Fire Chief is responsible for protecting the welfare of Bucksport citizens and its visitors, and for providing mutual aid support through the effective management of progressive fire and emergency delivery system. Required Qualifications • Associates Degree in fire prevention, fire administration, management, or closely related field highly desirable. • Firefighter II certification or higher required and Minimum AEMT license preferred. • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive responsible firefighting and emergency service experience. • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience in the fire service. • Supplemental specialized instruction, i.e., fire prevention, firefighting, hazmat, fire inspection, and National Fire Academy. • Valid State of Maine Class C or higher driver’s license. • Ability to reside within a reasonable distance as determined by the appointing authority, within 6 months. • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position and complete all the conditions of the hire, or • Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities maybe considered. • Ability to prepare budgets and knowledge of working budges desirable.
