Job Description
The Town of Freeport is currently seeking applications for the position(s) of full-time Firefighter/Paramedic. Advanced EMT's who are currently enrolled in paramedic school are encouraged to apply. This is a skilled Firefighting and EMS position consisting of Paramedic responsibilities, both emergency and non-emergency, as well combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires. Work involves responding to a wide range of fire suppression and medical emergencies to ensure the stability and safety of our community.
Typical shifts begin at 0700 hours and are 24 hours on, 24 hours off, 24 hours on, followed by 5 days off, for an average work week of 42 hours. Candidates are expected to work any weekends, holidays, and nights that fall within their assigned shifts on this eight-day rotation. There is the potential for call and/or overtime work on an occasional basis.

Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate degree in Fire Science, EMS, or related field preferred), Valid State of Maine Class C driver's license, Maine EMT Paramedic license (AEMT license acceptable with intent to obtain Paramedic qualification within reasonable period), Maine Firefighter I & II, Ability to work rotating 24-hour shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, Successful completion of background investigation and post-offer physical examination
Salary: $30.23 – $33.31/hour, representing Steps 1 through 5 of the pay scale
