Firefighter

Acquire an application from either the Vidalia City Hall or the Vidalia Fire Department Station 1. Return completed application in person to the Vidalia Fire Department Station 1 Administrative Secretary. When position becomes available qualified applicants will be notified according to contact information on application.

All Candidates are required to complete 17 Weeks of Candidate Training. Successful completion of the following is required during Candidate Training: IFSTA Hazardous Materials Awareness, IFSTA Hazardous Materials Operations, IFSTA 1001 Firefighter I, IFSTA 1001 Firefighter II, IFSTA Pumper Driver Operator, IFSTA Aerial Driver Operator, National Registry Emergency Medical Technician. Training will be done at the Vidalia Fire Department Training Center. Testing will be done at Fire and Emergency Training Institute.

Requirements: At least 18 years of age, U.S. citizen, valid high school diploma or GED certificate, valid driver's license and social security card, pass criminal background check, pass drug screening, pass physical agility exam/test, pass oral interview
