Firefighter

Acquire an application from either the Vidalia City Hall or the Vidalia Fire Department Station 1. Return completed application in person to the Vidalia Fire Department Station 1 Administrative Secretary. When position becomes available qualified applicants will be notified according to contact information on application.

Qualifications:
- be at least 18 years of age
- be a citizen of the United States
- possess a valid high school diploma or GED certificate
- possess a valid drivers license and social security card
- pass a criminal background check
- pass drug screening
- pass a physical agility exam/test
- pass an oral interview

Candidate Training:
All Candidates are required to complete 17 Weeks of Candidate Training. Successful completion of the following is required during Candidate Training:
- IFSTA Hazardous Materials Awareness
- IFSTA Hazardous Materials Operations
- IFSTA 1001 Firefighter I
- IFSTA 1001 Firefighter II
- IFSTA Pumper Driver Operator
- IFSTA Aerial Driver Operator
- National Registry Emergency Medical Technician

TRAINING WILL BE DONE AT THE VIDALIA FIRE DEPARTMENT TRAINING CENTER. TESTING WILL BE DONE AT FIRE AND EMERGENCY TRAINING INSTITUTE.

Requirements: Age 18+, U.S. citizen, high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, social security card, pass criminal background check, pass drug screening, pass physical agility exam, pass oral interview, Firefighter I & II certification, EMT certification
