Volunteer Firefighter

The Lake Jericho Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department is an 100% all professional volunteer fire and rescue department. This is a great opportunity to serve your community while receiving some invaluable training and experiences that will last a lifetime. Our department will accept applications of interested candidates on a year-round basis from those who reside in the designated areas who wish to volunteer in support of our mission which is to provide fire prevention-education, fire suppression and emergency services response to our community. Periods for application review, interviewing, acceptance and denials are typically held quarterly throughout the year.

You can always stop by our Fire Station at 531 Lake Jericho Road, Smithfield, Kentucky 40068, or on the First Wednesday of every month before our monthly stated business meeting at 7:00pm to pick up an application.

Requirements: 18 years of age or older (15 for cadets), U.S. citizen, high school/GED or equivalent graduate (not required for cadets), valid Commonwealth of Kentucky driver's license, good moral character with no previous criminal or felony convictions, reside or work in Lake Jericho Fire and Rescue service area or directly adjacent city/town
