FIREFIGHTER I

Under supervision of the Fire Chief, responds to fire alarms and emergency calls to protect life and property. Operates pumping engines, aerial ladder trucks and emergency equipment. Assists in fire suppression, rescue, hazardous material incidents, ventilation, and salvage work. Participates in fire prevention and station maintenance activities.

Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, valid Class B driver's license, ability to achieve Firefighter I certification under NFPA Standards within 18 months, certified at Awareness Level for hazardous materials within one year, First Responder level emergency care training desirable, physical agility and endurance, ability to move persons over 200 pounds
