Recruit Firefighter

Lafayette Fire Department is accepting applications for the 2027 Recruit Class. Position includes paid recruit academy (12-16 weeks) followed by one year on-the-job training. Upon completion, candidates are promoted to Firefighter I. Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision insurance, pension, and various pay incentives.

Requirements: U.S. citizen, age 21-40 (exceptions for prior firefighters and veterans), high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, good moral character, no felony convictions, pass CPAT physical agility test, pass background investigation, polygraph examination, vision screening, valid telephone service

Salary: Recruit Salary: $74,715.68
