Current Illinois or National registry EMT-Basic License and proof of enrollment in or completion of certified paramedic training program due at time of application; or Illinois or National registry Paramedic License preferred. Candidates MUST be currently enrolled in a paramedic (EMT-P) program OR have completed an EMT-P class and currently in certification process and must obtain their EMT-Paramedic License by the end of their probationary period (18 months). OR be a licensed/certified EMT-P. Candidates are required to successfully test into Illinois Region 7-Silver Cross EMS System. All phases of testing are mandatory. If you fail to attend or do not successfully complete the application process, written exam, oral interview (scheduled after the exam), or any other portion of the testing process, you will not be eligible for employment consideration at the New Lenox Fire Protection District.

Requirements: Age 21-35 at time of conditional offer (unless exempt by IL statute); US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident; High School Diploma or GED; Valid Driver's License; Current Illinois or National registry EMT-Basic License with proof of paramedic training enrollment/completion OR Illinois or National registry Paramedic License; Firefighter 2 Certification; Valid CPAT certification with Ladder Climb; No adult felony convictions; No juvenile felony convictions; Ability to read, speak, and write English; Written examination; CPAT required

Salary: Current starting salary for 2026 - $76,800; 2027 starting salary - $79,488; With MEDIC License, top out salary after 5 years' service is $107,803
