2026 Application Process - Paid - On - Call Firefighters is now OPEN. All Applications must be received by 6pm on Friday, November 20, 2026.

OR Pick up and drop off an application on Tuesday evenings at Carlinville Fire Department, 317 West 2nd South St., Carlinville, IL 62626.

All applicants must be 18 years of age and must possess a valid State of Illinois driver's license at time of application submission. Interested High School seniors who are 18 at time of application and have references of academic proficiency and graduating in the Spring of 2027 will be considered for employment on an individual basis. New recruits with the proof of firefighter certification from any state equal to or above the level of State of Illinois Basic Firefighter Certification will be evaluated for approval and acceptance by CFPD. New recruits with proof of State of Illinois emergency medical license (eligible to practice emergency medicine in the state of Illinois) for IDPH First Responder License or greater care license will be evaluated for approval and acceptance by CFPD.

Requirements: 18 years of age, valid State of Illinois driver's license, State of Illinois Basic Firefighter Certification or equivalent from another state (preferred), State of Illinois emergency medical license or IDPH First Responder License or greater care license (preferred)
