Firefighter/Paramedic

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for part-time employment for the position of Firefighter Paramedic and/or Firefighter EMT.

Minimum Requirements:
The applicant must be 18 years of age.
The applicant must be a United States citizen.
The applicant must have a high school diploma or GED equivalency.

Application Forms and Documents:
Applicants must complete the pre-employment application provided by the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District. Applicants must submit a color photo, at least a 2" by 3", taken within the last year, with their application. All questions must be answered thoroughly and completely. Upon a conditional offer of employment each application must submit to and pass a background check. Any false or misleading information is sufficient cause for immediate application revocation or immediate termination (see attached Application Form). Attach any certifications and certificates.

Attend Orientation Meeting:
The applicant will attend a mandatory orientation meeting. This meeting will be conducted to explain the functions of the department and the time and dedication expected of a firefighter. This meeting will be open to spouses of the applicant.

Recommendation to District for Employment:
The Fire Chief will make a recommendation to the Morris Fire Protection & Ambulance District Board of Trustees for part-time employment.

Conditional Employment Offer:
The applicant will be offered a conditional employment offering subject to passing all physical and drug testing.

Passing Physical/Drug Testing and Physical Ability Testing:
The applicant shall be required to complete a medical and physical evaluation provided by the Morris Fire Protection & Ambulance District and performed by the District's appointed physician. As a condition for employment, the applicant shall submit to a urinalysis screening. A signed Release for Duty authorization must be provided by the District's physician prior to assuming the duties of probationary firefighter. In the event of a positive result drug screening, the applicant will immediately be dismissed from the hiring process.

Official Employment Offering/Signing of Acceptance Letter:
The applicant will have an official employment offering letter that needs to be signed and dated.

Reimbursement Agreement:
The employee will agree to repay Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District for Basic and EMT Basic training if leaving employment within two years of hire date.
