Firefighter/Paramedic

The Marengo Fire and Rescue Districts are conducting ongoing recruitment and testing to develop a pool of candidates for Full-Time Firefighter/EMT's. We are a growing and progressive department with a vision focused on the future.

Minimum Qualifications:
- 21 years of age or older
- Illinois State Fire Marshal, Basic Operation FF or FF II
- Illinois or Nationally licensed EMT-Paramedic
- CPAT required at time of application (may be waived for lateral hire)
- No felony convictions. Certain misdemeanor convictions may be a disqualifier
- Valid Illinois driver's license

Conditional Offer Requirements at Time of Full-Time Employment:
- National Testing Network Fire Team exam
- Submission of preference points
- Mandatory Orientation
- Commission Oral Interview
- Background Investigation/Polygraph Exam
- Conditional Letter of Hire
- Psychological Examination and Comprehensive Medical

*ALL EMPLOYEES MUST ACHIEVE AND HOLD AN IDPH PARAMEDIC LICENSE WITHIN THE MARENGO FIRE-RESCUE EMS REGION, WITHIN THE PROBATIONARY PERIOD OF EMPLOYMENT WHICH MAY BE EXTENDED. EMPLOYEES WILL BE LIMITED TO THREE ATTEMPTS TO PASS THE NATIONAL PARAMEDIC CERTIFICATION TEST. FAILURE TO ACHIEVE ANY OF THESE REQUIREMENTS WILL BE CAUSE FOR SEPARATION.
