Firefighter/Paramedic

The Itasca Fire Protection District (IFPD) is accepting applications for Firefighter/Paramedics. This process will also result in creation of an eligibility list for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. This list will be valid for 2 years or until exhausted.

Job Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Possess a valid Illinois driver's license.
- Be a high school graduate or equivalent (GED) at the time of application.
- Vision requirements: natural or corrected.
- No felony convictions.
- Age requirement: At least 20 and under 35 years of age at the time of application and 21 years of age to be eligible for employment, unless the individual falls under one of the exceptions to the statutory maximum hiring age detailed in 70 ILCS 705/16.06 or 65 ILCS 2/10-2.1-6. Proof of date of birth is required.

Candidates are required to provide the following documentation uploaded by the deadline to be considered for the position:
- National Testing Network's FireTEAM exam score.
- NTN Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA).
- NTN Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).
- NTN Recorded video interview.
- IFPD Notarized Authorization form.
- Copy of birth certificate.
- Certified Copy of High School Diploma or GED.
- Certified copy of completed college coursework/degree.
- Copy of Valid IL Driver's license.
- If applicable, a certified copy of military service record and discharge papers (DD214).
- Copy of the Applicant's Basic Operations Firefighter from the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshall (OSFM) certificate. Provide letter on status of obtaining certification in application, if in process. Applicants must hold an OSFM BOF certification at the time of hire.
- Valid Illinois or Nationally Registered EMT-P. Provide a letter on status of obtaining license in application if in process. Applicants must be a licensed paramedic at the time of hire.
- Valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) and Ladder Climb Certification. Applicants must pass and present certification at the time of hire.

Salary Information: Step 1 starting salary is $84,316 + $4,000 licensed paramedic stipend. The pay scale contains 4 steps with a top amount at $114,149. These amounts are established by the CBA as of 6/1/26.

Benefit Information: Firefighter/Paramedics salary and benefits are established by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) which currently includes stipends for paramedic license, college degrees and other firefighter certifications.

Firefighter/Paramedics work a 24-hour shift followed by 48-hours off duty.

Additional Requirements: Successfully pass the screening requirements, including a background investigation, finger printing, psychological examination, interview, and pre-employment medical examination.

Requirements: BOF certified, EMT-P certified
