Firefighter Paramedic

The City of Lighthouse Point is seeking qualified and committed persons for the position of Firefighter/Paramedic. Acceptable candidates must possess passion and commitment in self-less service to the citizens of Lighthouse Point and Broward County. The position requires an individual to perform general duty firefighting work in combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires and operating firefighting apparatus.

Examples of Duties: An employee in this class is responsible for the protection of life and property through firefighting activities; rescue operations; fire prevention inspections; and administration of emergency medical services. Shall perform advanced medical procedures as defined by the current medical protocol. Tasks involve the intermittent performance of extremely physically demanding work, typically involving some combination of reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, running, climbing, and that may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of extremely heavy objects (150+ pounds). Operates fire department vehicles safely and professionally in accordance with state and local laws. Participates in all fire department training activities and maintains an acceptable level of proficiency. Expected to be able to perform the role of an Upgrade Rescue Supervisor within 18 months of employment and Upgrade Driver Engineer within 24 months of employment.

Requirements: At least 18 years of age, High School diploma or equivalent, Florida Certified Firefighter and Florida Certified Paramedic with Broward, Palm Beach, or City of Coral Springs Fire Academy Physical Ability Test Card or Candidate Physical Ability Test or IAFF licensed Candidate Physical Ability Test administered through the National Testing Network (issued within the last year), Valid Florida driver's license with E endorsement with an acceptable driving record, Florida approved 16-hour Emergency Vehicle Operator's Course (EVOC) certificate of completion, ACLS and BLS Certified, Completed ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 training in the National Incident Management System curriculum

Salary: $70,225.10 - $107,861.21 Annually
