Volunteer Firefighter

Hiring Process:
- HFPD Application
- Written exam
- Physical agility test
- EMS assessment
- Ride-Along
- Oral board interview
- Chief interview
- Drug screen
- Background & driving record check

Volunteer Requirements:
- Must be at least 18 years of age prior to applying
- Must have High School Diploma or GED
- Certifications required before hiring: Healthcare Provider (AHA) CPR, FEMA NIMS IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, and IS-800
- Completion of probationary period within one year of volunteer hire date
- Completion of Department Driver/Operator Program within six months from completion of probationary period
- Attend 75% of all required trainings and meetings during your probationary period
- Attend Monthly Business Meetings
- Obtain minimum of Firefighter I and EMT-Basic within first 12 months if not already certified
