FIREFIGHTER (HAZ MAT TECH/BASIC LIFE SUPPORT)

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Firefighter (Hazardous Materials Technician/Basic Life Support) assigned to a crew engaged in airfield and structural firefighting and crash-rescue operations.

DUTIES:
1. Performs hazard and risk assessment and conducts a complete incident analysis.
2. Performs Basic Life Support. Initiates established medical protocols in providing basic life support.
3. Drives and operates firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles.
4. Performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great.
5. Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities. Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities. Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
U.S. Citizenship Required. Males must be registered for Selective Service. If authorized, PCS will be paid IAW JTR and AF Regulations. If receiving an authorized PCS, you may be subject to completing/signing a CONUS agreement. This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program. Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest. Employee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program. Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management. The employee may be required to work a 72 hour week on a 24 hour on/24 hour off basis which includes weekends and holidays. Maybe subject to recall. This is a drug testing designated position and the employee is subject to random drug testing. The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. May be required to work the Fire Alarm and Communications Center (FACC). May be required to maintain current National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) certification. The work requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. A pre-employment physical is required. This is a Mission Essential position performing a Mission Critical Function.

Full-time. The employee may be required to work a 72 hour week on a 24 hour on/24 hour off basis which includes weekends and holidays.
