Application Process includes: written exam (Firefighter Candidate Testing Center), Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT), consolidated interview and EMS skills examination in one day, background investigation, medical examination, and psych assessment. Academies usually start several weeks following the final job offer and last 22 weeks.

Requirements: High school graduation or GED equivalent, valid California paramedic license, NREMT paramedic certification, or actively participating in paramedic internship, CPAT card of completion issued no earlier than one year from recruitment filing deadline, successful completion of FCTC written exam completed no earlier than one year from recruitment filing deadline, valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record, proof of vaccination (TDaP, TB, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Influenza)
